INPUT REFERENCE
Controllers, keyboard and mouse
Begin with a controller or the built-in bindings, then change a small part of the configuration. Verify the result before adding another override.
Controller mapping
The reviewed input document supports SDL-recognized gamepads, including sticks and analog triggers. On an Xbox layout, A/B/X/Y correspond to Cross/Circle/Square/Triangle.
For a first check, connect only the controller you want to test. Confirm its behavior in a repeatable menu or scene before investigating a more complicated setup.
Where the configuration belongs
Put anyps5-input.ini beside the generated executable. ANYPS5_INPUT_CONFIG selects another location. Binding entries use Action = Type:Value; omitted actions retain their defaults.
Cross = KEY:Space
Options = KEY:ReturnThis is an illustrative minimal override using documented actions, not a tested layout for a particular game. Save a backup of your previous file, then test these two actions separately.
Keep overrides understandable
- Use one small change to test whether the file is being read.
- Keep a note of the action, physical input and expected result.
- If a binding fails, read the configuration error before changing the whole layout.
- Keep gamepad tests and keyboard tests separate so their results are easy to compare.
Keyboard and mouse overrides do not replace the automatic controller mapping. Multiple entries for an action can add alternate inputs, while its first entry replaces the built-in bindings.
Mouse behavior and limitations
The documented mouse-to-stick toggle is ToggleMouse. Touchpad click is forwarded for recognized PlayStation controllers, but finger coordinates are not implemented in the reviewed document.
When tuning a camera, pick one short movement you can repeat. Adjust one parameter and compare. Copying a full sensitivity preset from another title makes it harder to know which change helped.
Common questions
Where does anyps5-input.ini go?
Beside the generated executable, unless ANYPS5_INPUT_CONFIG points to another location.
